The City of Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works main purpose is to improve the quality of life by effectively developing, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure, natural resources, and community services. The administration is charged with the responsibility of developing strategy and ensuring the effectiveness of the Department’s activities in meeting the needs of the citizens of Sheboygan. This is accomplished through the effective planning, organizing, leading, and controlling of all available resources within the Department.
The Administration Division is responsible for being the first point of contact for residents and supports of all Public Works divisions. The Department continues to innovate, adjust, and lead with regard to maximizing results with limited resources. Public Works is unique when compared with other departments in the City, in that the Department has both internal and external customers. This environment often creates competing demands for services, which the Department consistently balances with good satisfaction ratings.
The Public Works Administration Division manages several programs for the City of Sheboygan, as well as a variety of initiatives. Below are a just a few of the many key projects in the City.
The City of Sheboygan is a city that celebrates special events. From international sporting events to community-based festivals, parades and athletic activities, the City of Sheboygan is proud to host over one hundred events each year. The Public Works Administration Division intakes all the applications for all Special and Private Events within the City of Sheboygan.
