Due to the late leaf fall and early snowfall in December 2025, some leaf piles were unable to be collected. To help clean streets and prevent blockages of storm sewer inlets, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will conduct a special spring curbside leaf collection.
When
March 9–13, 2026
During this one-week period, residents may rake remaining leaves from last year into the street for collection.
As a reminder, under normal conditions City Ordinance prohibits placing leaves or debris in the street. However, an exception is being made exclusively for this one-week collection effort.
Requirements
• Residents wishing to have leaves collected must rake them into the street between March 9 and March 13, following the same process used during the fall leaf collection program.
• Rake leaves slightly away from the curb to ensure proper water flow to storm sewer inlets and to prevent ponding.
• Place leaf piles away from parked vehicles so crews can access them safely.
• Leaf piles containing branches, sod, or other yard waste will not be collected.
Residential Recycling Center
Residents who prefer to manage yard waste and leaves at their convenience may use the Residential Recycling Center, located at the east gate of 2026 New Jersey Avenue. The facility is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
