Road Closure – Geele Avenue (N. Taylor Drive to N. 38th Street)

UPDATE: The first closure for the removal of the existing pavement scheduled for May 2, 2022 has been delayed until May 5, 2022. The closure is still expected to remain in place for one day. The contractor performing the work has been delayed. The project is still scheduled to be complete in July.

Construction on Geele Avenue between North Taylor Drive and North 38th Street will begin on Monday, May 2, 2022. The closures are for a mill and overlay project that includes the removal of the existing asphalt pavement and replacement with new asphalt pavement.

Geele Avenue between North Taylor Drive and North 38th Street will be closed to through traffic at various times. The first closure, for removal of the existing pavement, will begin on May 2, 2022, and is expected to remain in place for one day. Placement of the new asphalt pavement will require a future road closure, a date for this closure has not been scheduled.

A detour will be posted using North Taylor Drive, Saemann Avenue, and North 38th Street.

The work on Geele Avenue is scheduled to be complete in July.

Geele Avenue between North 29th Street and North Taylor Drive is anticipated to be repaired in 2023 or 2024 following proposed improvements to the storm water pond at the intersection of Geele Avenue and North 29th Street.

All work and traffic impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change.
