Annual Pavement Maintenance Program

Categories: Streets & Sanitation, Facilities & Traffic, City Projects

On May 27, 2025, the Department of Public Works will begin work on its annual pavement maintenance program on various streets throughout the City. Maintenance work under this program includes grinding and filling asphalt pavement cracks to prevent moisture from entering the pavement. Work is anticipated to be completed within several weeks.

What to Expect:

On the day prior to work being scheduled, “No Parking” signs will be posted along the street section being maintained. The signs will read “No Parking – 5 AM to 4 PM”. During the work, the street will be closed to thru traffic to complete the work efficiently and safely. These closures are temporary in nature, as the work is completed relatively quickly. Typical closures will not be longer than one day. The “No Parking” signs will be removed once the work is completed.

Maintenance work is scheduled for the following Streets:

  • Water Street at Jefferson Avenue
  • Water Street – New Jersey Avenue to Virginia Avenue
  • South 9th Street – Indiana Avenue to High Avenue
  • South 8th Street – Kentucky Avenue to Union Avenue
  • South 17th Street - Maryland Avenue to Union Avenue
  • Union Avenue – South Business Drive to Railroad Tracks
  • Sauk Trail Road - Union Avenue to Broadway Avenue
  • Union Avenue – North 26th Street to Taylor Drive

All pavement maintenance activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

The City of Sheboygan understands the inconvenience experienced during street maintenance activities and appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work to complete this maintenance. Please use caution and slowdown in work zones.
