Winter Event Notice

Categories: Garbage & Recycling, Streets & Sanitation

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening through noon on Thursday. Predicted snowfall between 4 to 7 inches with potential for light ice accumulations.

The City of Sheboygan Department of Public Works (DPW) has been preparing for this weather event.Operators are applying liquid brine directly to the street today. By applying the brine it will prevent ice from forming a bond with the pavement.

Plow operators are being scheduled for Wednesday evening, January 18, through the overnight hours and will work until all streets have been cleared.

During periods of heavy snowfall, plow operators will remain focused on keeping the high traffic streets open for travel. Neighborhood streets will be a secondary focus.

During a winter snow event, please take into consideration the following:

  • If at all possible, please stay off the street.
  • Increase your following distance on wet and snow-covered roads.
  • When driving in precipitation, please turn on your headlights.
  • Please stay back a minimum of 75 feet from DPW plows.

The DPW appreciates everyone’s patience as the plow operators work to clear the streets.
