Winter Weather Update February 21, 2023

A Winter Storm Warning has been posted for the Sheboygan area beginning Wednesday (2/22) morning through Thursday (2/23) morning. The approaching weather system is predicted to include heavy snowfall, sleet and strong winds. Including the anticipated snow this evening, this weather event will impact the Sheboygan area for a 36-hour period.

HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE ANTICIPATED.

The Department will have plow trucks on the road in continued shifts throughout the duration of the event to minimize impacts to those that need to be traveling the City street network. Please keep in mind, during periods of heavy snowfall, plow truck operators will remain focused on keeping the primary / heavily traveled streets clear, meaning secondary streets such as neighborhood streets may not be plowed immediately during the event. Final cleanup will be completed once the snowfall subsides.Please be patient, the Departments plow trucks cannot be everywhere at one time and work to clear all City streets will take some time.

Following these guidelines will aid the Department in snow clearing operations;

  • Plan accordingly. If you need to be traveling somewhere, please slow down!
  • Park vehicles off-street (driveways) if possible.
  • Follow overnight winter parking regulations by alternating parking. Remember; “Park for Tomorrow”.
  • Do not blow or shovel snow back into the street.
  • Be a good neighbor and clear sidewalk within 48 hours after the snow stops falling.
  • Keep our Plow Truck Drivers safe and on the road by providing 75 feet clearance so they are able to safely remove the snow.

STAY SAFE!
