Curbside Collection Cart Placement Reminders

Categories: Garbage & Recycling, Streets & Sanitation

HOW TO STORE CARTS

  • During non-collection days, carts must be placed in your garage or along the side of your home/garage.
  • Carts cannot be stored in the front (street side) of your home.

WHEN TO SET CARTS OUT

  • Carts must be set out by 7:30 am on your collection day, regardless of what time collection normally takes place in your neighborhood.
  • Carts can be placed at the curb or alley as early as 5:00 p.m. the night before your collection day.
  • Carts need to be removed from the curb or alley by 6:00 p.m. on collection day.

HOW TO SET CARTS OUT

  • Carts must be placed parallel to the roadway, alley, or your driveway with the cart’s numbered side facing the street.
  • Do Not place carts in the street.
  • Carts must be spaced four feet apart from each other and four feet away from other objects such as trees, mailboxes, parked vehicles, etc.

COLLECTIONS DURING SNOWFALL

  • Unless the City announces a delay in service, garbage and recycling collections do not change based on the weather.

TIPS TO AVOID A MISSED COLLECTION DURING THE WINTER MONTHS

  • Carts need to be placed on a level surface clear of snowbanks.
  • Do not leave the carts behind snowbanks.
  • Shovel an area at the front of your property line to set the carts at the curb or alley.
  • If your driveway is clear, set the carts at the end of the driveway.
  • Be sure there is at least four feet of space between any obstacles.
