How do I reach DPW after hours?

If you have an emergency after hours, please call the non-emergency Police Department at (920) 459-3333 Dispatch is in contact with the Department of Public Works, and can direct the response as required.

I think my mailbox may have been damaged by City plows. What is the City policy on repair of my mailbox?

The City of Sheboygan shall not be liable for damage to mailboxes and support structures as a result of objects, snow, sleet, ice, water or other precipitation thrown by City plow. If mailbox and/or support structures are physically struck by City owned and operated plow, the City of Sheboygan may at its discretion replace the damaged mailbox and/or support with a standard USPS approved steel mailbox and/or 4"x4" wood post and support. Will the City pick up my Christmas tree/Wreaths/Garland after the holidays?

Pickup will start in the beginning of January. Trees are picked up on the same day as your garbage pickup. Trees will be picked up through the end of January.

Instructions: Christmas trees are picked up at the curb. There is NO ALLEY pickup of Christmas trees. Christmas wreaths are picked up with normal curbside garbage collection. Residents are reminded to NOT place trees in plastic bags and remove all ornaments and decorative lights. Trees are recycled by grinding them into wood chips. These chips are available to the public free of charge. Christmas trees can also be disposed of at the Sheboygan Residential Recycling Center on 2026 New Jersey Avenue.

I noticed a street light was burned out. Who do I call?

The City of Sheboygan owns and maintains a select number of street lights. The majority of street lights are maintained by Alliant Energy.

There is a dead animal/deer on our street. Will the City pick it up?

In most cases, the City can pick up dead animals. However, this only is done during regular business hours.

When does my garbage and recycling get picked up?

How can I get rid of branches and yard waste?

Grass clippings, leaves, branches, brush, and yard waste are all accepted at the Sheboygan Residential Recycling Center on 2026 New Jersey Avenue. Free mulch is also offered to the community from the provided branches.

I heard the City gives away wood chips and mulch. Where and how do I get some?

Wood chips and mulch, when available, can be picked up by residents and the Residential Recycling Center on 2026 New Jersey Avenue.

What is the City rules regarding snow emergencies and winter parking?

From December 1 to April 30, overnight winter parking regulations are in effect between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. Snow emergencies and winter parking information can be found by clicking here.

How and where can I get rid of a used appliance?

Non-freon appliances can be dropped off at the Residential Recycling Center. Information about items that are and are not accepted at the Residential Recycling Center can be found here.

How and where can I get rid of a used electronic?

Used electronics can NOT be dropped off at the Residential Recycling Center. Public Works recommends utilizing a private disposal service or contact Sheboygan County for their Hazardous Waste Cleanup Events.

How do I get rid of items oil based paint or hazardous waste?

Public Works recommends contacting Sheboygan County for their Hazardous Waste Cleanup Events.

How do I dispose of carpet or wood?

Carpet or wood can be placed in the garbage cart and it is recommended it is cut into size that fits in the container with the lid closed. No debris placed outside the cart will be collected. For larger quantities the Department of Public Works recommends you use a private disposal service.
